"Puppets for Peace" learned about recycling this week. The children had an abundance of knowledge of objects that can be recycled. The discussion consisted of reasons for recycling and how this act helps to preserve our planet. We observed pictures of waste lands and this really sparked their attention as they observed how the trash that leaves our school and our homes end up. From these discussions, students agreed to start collecting plastic containers at home to bring to school. I was not completely comfortable with them collecting cans and transporting them to school. Therefore, we asked faculty members to deposit their soda cans in a bin that was placed in the facutly lounge. The students were amazed at the number of soda cans and this sparked a discussion that the nurse had conducted with them about consuming sugar. This is a future spin off on a health lesson.
We were in school three and a half days this week. We will continue to collect our objects and will make our deposits to the local recycling center in the city.

Great lesson. It is good for children to be learning about recycling at an early age especially with the big push for it these days. This is lesson they can throughout life.
ReplyDeleteI love the websites. I hope your children get as "into" the recycling as mine did. If we would all take it to heart, what a difference it would make for our planet.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Learning about recycling at such an early eage is exciting. Maybe as they grow up, they can spread the message and lesson that they have learned in this class project. The world could become a cleaner place!!
